Well-functioning competition rules play a crucial role on the internal market, both in terms of limiting distortions and ensuring more efficiency and innovation by allowing competitors to enter new markets and protecting consumer choice. EU competition policy should ensure that effective competition between companies exists thereby contributing to job creation, growth and investment. It should also address the global challenges which businesses face in order to boost their and the EU’s overall competitiveness. That is why is so important to get familiar with new developments in that area.
A company that receives government support gains an advantage over its competitors. Therefore, the Treaty generally prohibits State aid unless it is justified by reasons of general economic development. To ensure that this prohibition respected and exemptions applied equally across the European Union, the European Commission, and finally judges are in charge of ensuring that State aid complies with EU rules.
Speakers are expert practitioners and trainers who will presen t their report on the selected issues according to a legal and economic perspective.
The training will also serve as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practices between judges from across the EU.
