Descripton:
Two-days online seminar.
This training aims to create a platform to address the awareness of Antisemitism, non-discrimination and hate crimes, and the challenges it poses to judicial institutions throughout Europe today. The learning objectives of this seminar are an understanding of the phenomena of Antisemitism and its origins, an increased awareness of and sensitivity to bias motives in hate crimes and to discrimination behaviors, and also the crucial role of the judiciary in the protection of procedural rights of hate crime victims.
Objectives :
- understanding of the relevant concept as antisemitism, hate crime, hate speech, bias motives, discrimination targeting a group hence not only an individual
- ensuring that the members of the judiciary recognize the bias motives of the crimes and pay attention whether there are any indications that offenders were motivated by discriminatory attitudes
- raising awareness among judges and prosecutors of the role of the judiciary in the protection of human rights in the cases based on bias motivation
- raising awareness among professionals of the necessity to acknowledge victims of hate crime as victims of severe discrimination and teach them how to held cases without facing victims repeat discrimination

1. Complete online training module on Hate crime and hate speech (The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP), Council of Europe)
