Descripton:
The main aim of the seminar is to promote awareness of the phenomena of antisemitism and the hate crime and its impact on the victims, let prosecutors and judges be more sensitive to this issue and teach skills required to recognize, investigate and held this kind of cases. On the other hand the aim of the seminar is to focus on the rights of victims of the antisemitic behaviors and to protect them against facing repeat discrimination during the legal procedures.
Objectives :
- understanding of the relevant concept as antisemitism, hate crime, hate speech, bias motives, discrimination targeting a group hence not only an individual
- ensuring that the members of the judiciary recognize the bias motives of the crimes and pay attention whether there are any indications that offenders were motivated by discriminatory attitudes
- raising awareness among judges and prosecutors of the role of the judiciary in the protection of human rights in the cases based on bias motivation
- raising awareness among professionals of the necessity to acknowledge victims of hate crime as victims of severe discrimination and teach them how to held cases without facing victims repeat discrimination
