Description:
The comprehensive reform of EU data protection rules with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applying as of May 2018, brings new challenges for judicial practitioners across Europe. To address the changes to EU’s data protection framework and foster discussion among practitioners from the different EU Member States, this day-and-a-half training will focus on the most relevant legal and jurisprudential developments in the field of data protection and the protection of the right to private life. By gathering leading experts in this field, it will offer a practical overview of the new Regulation and Directives stemming from the EU’s data protection reform package. It will also provide the participants with a practical understanding of the implications of the relevant case-law of the ECtHR and the CJEU in the daily work of judicial practitioners, through presentations and exchanges with experts followed by interactive sessions in which they will have the opportunity to put these into practice. This training seeks to operate as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices among colleagues, the debate of key developments in this field, and the creation of lasting networks of judicial cooperation and understanding in one of the most pressing fields of judicial development in Europe. Participants to this event are expected to have a background understanding of the subject matter.
