Description of the activity

Description of the activity

The seminar will address issues such as new digital trends in cybercrime; data analysis; cryptocurrency investigations; computer searches, including remote access searches; digital forensics and presenting e-evidence in court, both from the prosecution and defense perspectives.

Participants will be assisted by international and national experts in cybercrime, cryptocurrency and digital forensics. The training will include presentations on the necessary technical and legal tools focusing on the topics of the training’s practical cases.

Identification of training needs: the participants are expected to have the necessary pre-understanding of the fundamentals of computer and networking architecture and the international legal framework applicable to the cybercrime and e-evidence domains. 

Expected learning outcomes: a deeper understanding of cybercrime, cryptocurrencies and digital forensics, ultimately aimed at presenting and evaluating the relevant findings in Court.

 

Methodology and format

The seminar will be based on practical workshops addressing problems in cybercrime specific contexts, cryptocurrency investigations and digital forensics, working on case scenarios inspired by real facts and involving both national and cross-border judicial cooperation. This training will require interaction between the participants forming the workshop groups. Participants will comment on the practical cases according to their national legal systems and, most importantly, learn about their colleagues’ systems in counterpart Member States.

Target audience: 

Judges and prosecutors from all Member States involved in judicial cooperation in criminal matters and/or dealing with cross-border criminal cases and cyvbercrime. This is an advanced seminar for practitioners with more than 3 years of experience in handling cybercrime cases. 

 

 

Application procedure: 

All applications must be submitted through the candidates' national EJTN member institution.

Participation:

Upon invitation by EJTN, participants register via EJTN online  platform to which they receive access.
After the event, reimbursement is processed via EJTN online platform.
